New light-themes Package

July 7th, 2010 by James Schriver

The polish on my light-themes branch is nearing completion. The package utilizes two gtk2-engines (murrine and equinox).  All themes presently incorporate all new murrine options including  default_button_color, focusstyle, handlestyle, and textstyle.  These are themes that have been in testing a few weeks before UDS 2010. I feel they are quite stable and ready for production use. I added a theme called “Light” which is a lighter version of Radiance. Eclipse was removed for further testing and tweaking. All three themes are mostly consistent in color absent the title, menus, and menbars. All three themes will appear to be different, but after further inspection, you’ll see all the code and appearance is quite similar.  I’m hoping some of these changes will be accepted upstream as there many new changes coming to Maverick including RGBA, client-side window decorations, and rounded corners.  I will hopefully have some free time to implement these new murrine and equinox options to Shearwater, the update to Albatross.  As always, enjoy and be sure to file and bugs you encounter.

Updated Murrine Based Themes

November 3rd, 2009 by James Schriver

New options pushed to Murrine’s master branch add some beautiful and long sought after options including a new beautiful expander, trough_shade, border_shades, border_highlight, arrowstyle, reliefstyle, stepperstyle, and many more.  I’m currently hacking on a few different themes with the new options and the result are quite aesthetically pleasing.  Thank you to Andrea Cimitan as he has been quite busy pushing these new changes.  I’m presently working on some new themes for Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu’s community themes package, and tweaking up Xubuntu’s Albatross.  Dust is also ported over for added changes.

I pushed the new changed to my MurrinaDust branch which can be found here:

Canonical’s Ken VanDine has built a package in his PPA for testing.
